With 102 evidences of U.S. interference from five aspects, Fact Sheet: U.S. Interference in Hong Kong Affairs and Support for Anti-China, Destabilizing Forces, released by China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on September 24, is considered by experts to be a strong response to the U.S. bullying acts. The five aspects are:

●Enacting Hong Kong-related Acts, vilifying China’s policy on Hong Kong, meddling in Hong Kong affairs, and wantonly interfering in China’s internal affairs;

●Imposing sanctions in an attempt to obstruct the implementation in Hong Kong of the Hong Kong National Security Law and relevant decisions of China’s National People’s Congress;

●Making unfounded charges against Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) affairs and law enforcement actions taken by Hong Kong police in an attempt to undermine Hong Kong’s prosperity and stability;

●Shielding and supporting those who are opposed to China and attempt to destabilize Hong Kong, providing platforms for them to advocate “Hong Kong independence” and spread political disinformation, and justifying the acts of those lawbreakers by twisting facts and misleading the public;

●Colluding with certain countries to exert pressure, and teaming up with allies to interfere in Hong Kong affairs and make irresponsible comments through such means as joint statements.

Hong Kong is a part of China and thus its affairs are China’s internal affairs. The policy of “one country, two systems,” under which the people of Hong Kong administer.

Hong Kong with a high degree of autonomy, has been fully implemented. Support from the mainland helps Hong Kong withstand the severe headwind of global financial crises, and guarantees economic development and social security.

However, burgeoning development in Hong Kong has discomforted some in the United States and UK, who had long expected to see Hong Kong slip into recession after its return to China in 1997.

The U.S. painted a distorted picture of the turbulence by describing the forceful uproar in the streets as “peaceful protests,” libeled the HKSAR Government and Hong Kong police, all of whom worked hard to maintain stability, law and order, and attacked the principle of “one country, two systems” as well as the Basic Law, making no bones about its aggressive stance on China.

In collusion with those opposed to China and intent on destabilizing Hong Kong, the U.S. Government recklessly challenged China’s red line of “one country, two systems” and even tried laying the brickwork for a “color revolution” in Hong Kong—something they had tried to do already even before its 1997 return. None of the 102 items on the fact sheet are acts any “normal” country is supposed to commit.

The Chinese Government and the Chinese people will never tolerate oppression or servitude imposed on them by external forces. Any attempt to meddle in Hong Kong’s affairs and contain China’s development is doomed to fail.

The 2021 Election Committee’s subsector ordinary elections took place in Hong Kong without a hitch on September 19. Members of the newly elected election committee hail from all walks of life in Hong Kong. More specifically, many small and medium-sized enterprises and grassroots communities dispatched representatives to claim their seat on the election committee for the first time ever. Surveys show that almost 70 percent of HKSAR residents believe that these elected members will speak on behalf of the locals and have faith in Hong Kong’s good governance.

This latest election fully embodies the principle of “patriots administering Hong Kong” and exhibits a democracy with Hong Kong characteristics, hitting back hard at the reckless U.S. interference in Hong Kong’s affairs. Today, social life in Hong Kong has returned to normal. No country or individual will be able to trip up Hong Kong as it runs on the new tracks toward a more prosperous future.
